As I started to work as freelance illustrator, the main technique I used was airbrush (advertising agencies asked a lot for airbrush, then). I spent a lot of time airbrushing several subjects, and this shoe was one of my first promotional works to be included in my old portfolio.

No Peace

The illustration on the right was born as an exercise in gouaches, and a couple of years later it has been published by the italian "Inchiostro" magazine for illustrating a tale.

Two of four oils illustrations about american natives, to be used as serigraphed on fabric posters by Heart Rock.

Santa Claus: oils on cardboard

Santa Claus

One of four oil illustrations for Cartorama.
I tried to achieve the warm 50's american look of Norman Rockwell style (in my humble opinion, he has been one of the greatest illustrator in history). Besides the fact that it's painted on Shoeller cardboard and not on canvas, the technique is almost the same.

I grow up reading a lot of "Urania" novel books (italian science fiction publication); at that time all the covers were made by the great dutch artist Karel Thole. In 1994 I was lucky enough to meet him in Courmayeur and I discovered a very kind and nice person. This image was meant as a tribute to him.
