Positionate the cursor to the place where the mouth articulation should be. Select the vertices
of the lower jaw and assign them to a "vertex group".
Rotate (R) the selection around the cursor (I placed an "Empty", in a different layer, to remember
the exact cursor location) to open the mouth.

Select the border's vertices of the mouth, then press W and choise "Select swap".
Press H to hide the selected vertices. Perfect! Now we can work easily on the inside of the mouth. Select only the inner vertices and extrude them back, twice. |

Extrude the end of the new faces scaling only on one axe (S > X two times) in front view (NUMPAD1),
to close the inside of the mouth.
Select all and press "Remove Doubles".
Extrude the tongue and adjust.
