Stone Heart

Two proposals for the cover of "Stone Heart", fantasy blockbuster by Charlie Fletcher (there are rumours about a film from this book). In the end, the publisher decided for the second one.
Initial sketches handdrawn with pencil on paper, then scanned and colored as a digital painting; I made also several renderings of 3d textured elements in Blender, to obtain details and light effects (i.e. the title plate, rocky surfaces, the scales and the wings of the dragon in the second image).
